Ballet

Basia Lamy was born in San Diego, CA where she began her dance training at the age of three. She trained in many styles and began competing and attending conventions in LA at the age of 8. After a move with the military to Washington in 2011, Basia moved on to train at InMotion Performing Arts Studio.

During her time at InMotion, Basia was a member of both a company member of Momentum Performing Group and Dance Ensemble Northwest where she competed in various dance competitions and performed lead roles in several ballets.

In 2013, at age thirteen, Basia accepted a full tuition scholarship to train at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School where she had the opportunity to perform in various works including George Balanchine’s Serenade.

Basia also participated in several summer intensive programs including Miami City Ballet, Ballet Chicago, and LINES Ballet.

Currently, Basia is a student at New York University in the Tisch School of the Arts majoring in Dance, minoring in Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology, and taking several courses in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Studies. At Tisch she studies ballet, contemporary, improvisation, and dance composition. She has had the opportunity to choreograph her own work as well as perform in creative works by students, faculty members, and guest artists.

Basia has recently launched her own not-for-profit donation project titled JewlzByB that is dedicated to aiding organizations that create safe, inclusive communities and allow for all to thrive. Her goals are to eventually expand this project into her own nonprofit organization that will focus on creating resources to benefit the mental health and well being of young dancers of color.
