Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for children ages newborn-five, and the adults who love them. First offered to the public in 1997, Music Together pioneered the concept of a research based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement. Our approach is based on the belief that all children are musical and can learn to participate in the music of their culture with ease and joy.
In Music Together family classes, children participate together with their parents and caregivers. Mixed-age classes enable siblings to attend together, encouraging family bonding and offering a richer social context for music learning. The mixed-age learning model releases children from age-specific expectations and comparisons and allows them to participate freely at their own developmental levels. Each weekly 45-minute class includes singing, creative movement, rhythm play and an instrumental jam session. Families explore and experiment with rhythm sticks, egg shakers, resonator bells, gathering drums and more.
Music Together, renowned for award-winning curricula, offers a three-year cycle of 9 song collections – plus optional summer collections. Each includes songs, rhythmic rhymes and instrumental play-alongs in a rich variety of tonalities, meters and musical styles that appeal to both parents and children. Each semester, one song collection is taught simultaneously in classes across the United States and in over forty countries.
